Hi Peta I just tried inserting a video in PP 07 and it worked first time. I set it to play on click and then went to play mode and it played perfectly so I'm thinking it must be a setting on your computer that's not allowing the video to play. What…

Hi Peta You can't go past http://www.classtools.net/ and their wonderful range of online and printable sheets, activities, diagrams etc. It is a goldmine I often dip into. The othe highly recommended spot is http://www.eduplace.com/graphicorganize

Hi Peta I started an Information process page for the Swan View Library - basically a series of pages with links to word docs stored on the school server. I can't promise the links will work - I left the school over a year ago - but if you have a l…

Hi Peta It may be worth exploring interactive PDF's. It's not something I've done a lot of, perhaps there is somebody else who has had experience with these who could comment on this idea? Look forward to seeing other responses.

Thank you to everyone for good ideas and help.

Firstly even though I have received instructions to embed video - these do not match the version of PowerPoint I have I think it is 2003 so I still have trouble.

Thaks for template sites, I will visit template sites and share with library. I am interested in getting more information about interactive PDFs if anyone know about how to set these up and what you need software etc.

On this page you can Learn how to embed almost anything in your HTML web pages from Flash videos to Spreadsheets to high resolution photographs to static images from Google Maps and more.

Hi Peta,

I usually just look for an icon on websites that looks like < > and the copy and paste the code into it.

I don't use PowerPoint as I find the way it handles video as unreliable. Instead I use Keynote.

To get the videos from YouTube I use Tooble. Or a Firefox extension called Video Downloader. Your friend Google will help you find all of these.

Have fun
Paul

Hi again Peta
I forgot to mention that I had uploaded a text document on embedding videos in P/point into the EVICTS shared folders that Tomaz set up using. Box.net.

It is at the very bottom of the main page of the ning.

Hi Peta
I saw your questions on Tomaz's wall and thought I may be able to offer some help. I have uploaded 4 videos that explain the basics of the process.

To upload these videos to the EVICTS ning I went to YouTube, found the video I wanted and on the right hand side of the screen I found the box that says 'embed' I copied the contents of this box to my clipboard and then went to The EVICTS ning. I clicked on the 'Videos' tab at the top of the page. On the video page there is a link toward the top right that says 'Add Video'. Click on this link and scroll to the bottom of the page to click on the YouTube link. Paste the embed code that you copied from YouTube into the box and click save. A page will appear where you can add any extra information about the video.

Sorry this is such a long message. I hope it starts you in the right direction. Embedding video can be really easy sometimes...and very difficult at others. There are so many variables. Hope it works for you. Feel free to contact me if I can be of help :)

Aha! OK, here's what you do ...

On the right hand side you 'll have a little pull down menu 'Quick add'. One of the items is 'Invite friends'. THat is where you can type any email address, separated by comma (I think, not sure, instructions are there). if you hit 'Advanced' you'll get the 'Import from' option where the choices are limited to Yahoo, Gmail, AOL etc.

So for DET mates, just Quick add - Invite friends-type email address and away you go!

I am writing this is a comment on your wall for everyone's benefit. For messages you may want to use the messaging service (the little envelope) - works like an email.

Hope this helps :-) Cheers

Hi Peta

Adding friends? Best to go back to main page, expand the view to 'all members' then click on the people you want to befriend & 'add as a friend'. By the looks of it you got the hang of it :-)

Hello everyone, this is a great idea, I am excited to be part of this. Thanks to Tomaz for setting it up.
I would like to get to know everyone better perhaps by getting everyones blog information. I have started my own blog to share things I learn with colleagues but am very new at it and not a great writer, I usually do not know what to say. I usually call myself teacher 16 on the web.
Thanks to everyone who helped me with embedding video instructions
